That is one feature of inventory control software that is very commonly used today.

3 Best Registry Cleaner Utilities

In this article, we’ll take a look at three of the best registry cleaner tools available on the market today and see how each can be best used depending on your needs.

Registry Easy is one of the more standard registry cleaners available and provides a simple interface for running and optimization and repair scan of the Windows registry file. The product includes a backup feature which is essential to all these types of tools and also includes an evidence cleaner and IE plug-in scanner. It is a pity that it doesn’t include more advanced scans.

XP Repair Pro is a slightly more advanced registry cleaner that includes a variety of different scans (including a basic one for novices) that search for up to 60,000 known faults. The product also has a very useful registry defragmenter each which is great for speeding up access times by all applications trying to read the registry.

Reimage is very different from the other two in that it runs as an online service and is not installed on your PC. It can scan the registry for signs of problems and compare it to healthy configurations (stored on their online database). It also checks for faults with the operating system applications and dynamic link libraries so is more effective at finding a larger range of faults.

Deciding which is the best registry cleaner really comes down to how you want to use these products. If it is simply for home computer repairs on a weekly basis then Registry Easy or XP Repair Pro are both ideal. Pick one based on the additional features you’re looking for in particular. Reimage is better suited for doing those occasional repairs where you are unsure if the fault is with the operating system programs or your registry file, as opposed can fix both.

Ways To Reboot Your Computer Explained

This article goes through some of the different ways to reboot your computer to point out the uses and applications of each approach.

Everybody will be familiar with rebooting the PC from the start menu or by using the control-alt-delete key combination. This is referred to as a soft reboot as it allows the applications and operating system programs an opportunity to store their data to the hard drive before the operating systems closes down fully. This is the safest way of rebooting the computer.

A hard reboot can be done by pressing in the power button on the PC itself for approximately 10 seconds in order to force the operating system to close everything down. This does not however give applications a chance to save their data so may result in data problems the next time you try running some of these applications. A hard reboot is only intended to be used when your computer has frozen or hung and you are unable to do this soft reboot.

One reboot option for doing a laptop computer repair is to try using the System Restore program (under accessories, system tools). This Windows program allows you to rollback changes to the registry file. This can often be valuable if a virus or application changes corrupted your registry file. Once you select a previous date to roll back to, you save your changes and do a soft reboot for the operating system to pick up the new registry file.

Another option is to reboot your computer in safe mode by clicking the F8 key as Windows is just starting up (to enter the Windows advanced options menu). Running the PC in safe mode reduces the number of services that are permitted to run so improve useful if there are problems with peripherals a virus is blocking your anti-virus application from doing a computer repair. Once the repairs are made, you can do a soft reboot and start the PC in regular mode once again.

What You Should Know About Purchasing A Laptop Notebook or Mini Notebook Computer

A laptop notebook comes in many different sizes. The smaller the notebook, the cheaper it is in many cases, although the price also depends on the brand name, model, memory and other factors. You can purchase a laptop notebook either online or at a regular store however, in many cases, online retailers offer better prices than most retail outlets.

If you want to buy laptop notebook but are unsure of which particular brand name or model to purchase, then it can help to look up online reviews. Seeing what professionals have to say about a particular model can help you to know whether or not it is good value for your money. It is also important to consider what you will be using the laptop notebook for. If you are using the laptop mainly for business purposes, then it does not really matter if the laptop has a perfect graphic display for entertainment purposes. However, you will want to ensure the laptop is durable, has a good amount of memory and has blue tooth. If you do a lot of typing, then smaller 10′ or 11′ mini notebook computers are not the best buy for you, as these computers have a very small keyboard that is hard to type on. In fact, if you type a lot it is often better to purchase a larger laptop, such as a 15′ or even 17′ laptop instead of a mini notebook at a mini notebook computers store.

Besides making sure that the brand name and model of laptop you purchase is good quality and well made, you will also want to make sure that the company offers a good warranty. Having a good warranty will ensure that you can have the computer serviced and parts replaced free of charge for as long as the warranty lasts for. Be sure the company provides good customer service and does not give a hard time to those who need repairs done under warranty.

If you do not have much experience with purchasing a laptop, it can in many cases be better to purchase the laptop or mini notebook at a regular store instead of via an online retailer. It might be a tad bit more expensive, but you will be able to see the laptop up close in person and ask the salesperson for help and advice. Another option is to look at laptops at a regular store, choose a model that you like and then see if you can purchase it cheaper online.

Adaptive Intelligent Recovery and Swing Control Explained

Adaptive intelligent recovery and swing control are two functions found on good programmable thermostats. They are both very useful functions for reducing energy bills, protecting HVAC equipment and improving indoor comfort. This article will explain these two functions.

Adaptive intelligent recovery is found on Honeywell programmable thermostats and is often called ‘smart recovery’. The excellent Honeywell RTH8500D 7-Day Touchscreen Programmable Thermostat has smart recovery. It is a function which allows the Honeywell RTH8500D to track how long it takes to pre-heat or pre-cool a room during the changing seasons. It uses this information to start heating or cooling a room prior to the start of a programmed period. This means that if you set the thermostat to come on at 6pm and the room temperature to be 78 degrees; then at 6pm the room is exactly 78 degrees. This means you no don’t have to try and guess how long you should set the thermostat before you wake up or arrive home from work. It also means you avoid the temptation to put the thermostat on full because you are too hot or too cold. Gradual heating or cooling is much more energy efficient.

Secondly there is swing control. Honeywell programmable thermostats don’t have this function but Lux Products programmable thermostats do. Recommended are the Lux Products TX1500E (a 5-1-1 programmable thermostat) and the Lux Products TX9000TS (a 7-day programmable thermostat). Swing control allows you to set up a range within which your HVAC system does not respond to changes in temperature. Thus, if you have your Lux TX9000TS set for 78 degrees with a swing of 2 degrees then it will only turn on the heating if the temperature falls below 76 and will only cycle the air-con if the temperature rises beyond 80 degrees.

Trying to keep a room at an exact temperature can cause the furnace, air-con and other equipment to be continuously cycling. This prematurely wears out HVAC equipment. Having the room temperature modulate a degree or two does not noticeably change the comfort of the room and it saves you money.

Deciding which is more important smart response or swing control may depend on where you live. If you live in extreme conditions then swing control is more useful. Smart recovery is ideal for temperate areas with 4 seasons.

Phoenix Security: Securing A Home With Surveillance Cameras

Home invasion and home robbery have become common crimes as burglars have been deterred from robbing banks, conveniences, and other business entities which have bolstered their security. Now homes are a much easier target for burglars, and they look for homes that appear easy to get into to: no sign of a security system, no dogs, even isolated homes with few neighbors.

Phoenix security experts stress the importance of having some type of home security system because home invaders target unsecured homes. Most burglaries are crimes of convenience and having even a simple security system will help protect your home from crime, according to home security systems Phoenix authorities. The presence of a security system greatly decreases the chances that your home will be burglarized, and most importantly it protects your family and your home’s assets.

Phoenix security authorities highly suggest using surveillance cameras, whether you are looking into getting your first form of security technology or whether you already have a security system. For homes with security systems, adding security cameras is a great way to further bolster your home’s overall security. Home security systems Phoenix officials point out that surveillance cameras offer many benefits that traditional security systems do not.

A traditional security system lets out a loud audio signal that’s main purpose is to scare away burglars and alert homeowners and neighbors that someone may have broken into a home. Now there are monitored security systems which do the same thing, but also have the capability to connect a home to emergency authorities. Still, Phoenix security experts state that they do not have the capability to provide video evidence if a crime is committed. Surveillance cameras allow homeowners to keep an eye on their homes at all times of day, and are vital in providing archived video footage if a home is broken into.

Even if the face of the intruder is not shown in the video, Phoenix security authorities state that there are always other significant visual clues that may help police find the burglar. And there have been many cases in which police were able to track down burglars based off of video evidence. This is important because burglars often get away with these crimes, and having video footage may help bring more of these criminals to justice.

Troubleshooting Computer Freezes

Computer freezes can occur due to a large number of reasons and rarely provide you with the exception message you need to focus in on where the fault lies. This post runs through some of the most common causes and solutions to computer freeze issues.

Start with checking your hard drive is not running out of space. If it becomes too full then the virtual memory will struggle to expand and the operating system will be unable to do even basic operations. Free up extra hard drive space by moving large files and documents to an external storage device/CD and removing old unused programs.

Make sure your Windows registry file has not developed a fault. Registry corruption can occur due to viruses or simple application changes. This should be remedied using free computer scans (e.g. from the likes of Reimage) or by using a registry cleaner to automate the registry key repairs.

Use the task manager to check there are not too many programs running all at the one time. Your RAM and CPU will reach a bottleneck point once too many applications are running and will start to cause your computer freezing frequently. Close or remove as many non-critical background tasks as you can comfortably do without.

Scan your PC for viruses. It only takes one malware application or Trojan virus to be on your PC to lead to massive registry and OS program damage. Update your anti-virus software and scan all drives and memory devices.

Run a disk defragmentation utility if you haven’t done so in the past month. Data fragments on the disk can build up over time and gradually cause the operating system to struggle when accessing highly fragmented documents. A disk defragmenter will sequentially reorder data to reduce disk access times.

Finally, computer freezes can also happen due to mechanical faults on your PC. If this is the case, you may hear strange sounds from the PC (e.g. scratching from the hard disk) or see faults in the Device Manager. Contact a computer repair shop to have these issues look at.
